Scarlett Johansson fronts a girl supergroup called The Singles

Their first single, Candy is a sample of the "super pop" direction they're going in

Forget what Johnny Depp said about actors using their fame to make music – Scarlett Johansson is back on the music bandwagon and she's getting pretty serious about it this time. The Avengers star has formed a girl supergroup with Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris and Julia Haltigan. Este Haim from all-sisters band Haim plays the drums in The Singles' first track, Candy.

According to Scarlett, the psychedelic song is inspired by Grimes, The Bangles and The Go-Go's and is laced with heavy electro-pop beats. She also calls their style "super-pop." Her husky voice is easily discernible as she croons "Boy, you got me craving sweets again."

"The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls," she told Rolling Stone magazine. "I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."
