Rumours Of Sex And The City 3

Sex and the City lead writer Michael Patrick King says, "There's one story left"

It’s ten years this month since Sex and the City left our TV screens, but we just can’t let go. So we were excited to hear Michael Patrick King, lead writer of the hit HBO show and two subsequent movies, tell Entertainment Weekly he thinks there is one chapter left for Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”

Sarah Jessica also seems reasonably keen, saying “A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever. I don’t want to have to wear muumuus!”

Of course, in a perfect world we’d get the TV show back (although we do have to wonder if Carrie and crew in their 50s would be a powerful feminist statement or something kinda scary), but failing that, let’s hope the third film, if there is one, has more in common with the first than the not-so-great second. (Samantha’s "Lawrence of my labia" line will haunt us forever.)
