Patty Jenkins will direct 'Wonder Woman 2'
This will make her the highest-paid female filmmaker in history
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is officially returning to helm the sequel. No surprises there, as Patty had been in negotiations with Warner Bros since July when the studio announced that the sequel, with Gal Gadot returning to play the Amazonian princess, was in the works.
Patty's newly signed deal – she will co-write, direct and produce Wonder Woman 2 – will reportedly earn her a cool US$8 million, which would make her the highest-paid female filmmaker ever. The record was previously held by Nancy Meyers, who earned around US$5 million during her rom-com heyday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It's a huge leap from her US$1 million paycheque for the insanely successful first instalment, which grossed over US$800 million worldwide and is currently the 12th highest-grossing superhero movie of all time.
Thanks to those numbers, Deadline reports that Patty will be paid "substantially more and the same as a male director after such a box office coup". Congrats, Patty! We can't wait to see what she's got in store for us come December 2019.
