It has been nearly 20 years since nineties grunge godfather Kurt Cobain passed away. And now his widow and vocalist for the band Hole, Courtney Love, has a special announcement for grunge fans… and musical fans. Courtney has announced that they will likely turn Kurt Cobain’s story into a musical.

After being swarmed by Nirvana fanmail and social media posts, Courtney said in an interview that she will proceed with the Kurt Cobain-themed musical as long as “the right people” are involved.

"I would devote countless hours with an A-team to create a project that reflects Kurt in the most respectful but honest way possible, so that his story, his music and his legacy can be resurrected on stage for not only the world to see, but more importantly for our daughter to see."

We don’t know what other Nirvana fans will think about this, but we hope they won’t modify Nirvana’s hits of the likes of Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are into cheerful Glee-like numbers. Will Nirvana in Broadway be the next Wicked? Oh, the anticipation.
