Adidas tapped performance art legend Marina Abramovic to create a stirring short film for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Work Relation is a tribute to Marina's original performance, which was presented with her then-partner Ulay in three sequences and unveiled for the first time in 1978 at the Theatre aan Rijn in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The film is the first time their performance has been re-staged, and depicts the same premise: teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

This time, instead of Marina and Ulay, eleven (ahem, number of players in a football team) Adidas sneaker-wearing people performed the piece to simultaneously demonstrate these principles, which are essential in sports.

Illustrating the clear difference between individuals working alone, members of a team working in rivalry, and members of a team working in a chain, Marina found that the chain endures the longest. "The chain is the most efficient method... The chain stays forever," she said.
