At time of writing, our nation's athletes are leading with 141 gold medals and a total of 316 on the medal tally, breaking Malaysia's previous records of 111 gold and 295 total at the 2001 SEA Games.

Malaysia ranks far ahead of Thailand's 70 gold medals and Vietnam's 58. Singapore follows Vietnam closely with 57. Malaysia's first gold of this year's Games was won by the men's chinlone team on 16 August against the Philippines.
