Lorde turns 18 today (happy birthday, Lorde!). Instead of flooding Twitter with a birthday wishlist, the Kiwi singer has turned the tables and granted our wish, by releasing the music video for her song, Yellow Flicker Beat, which will be the lead single for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.

"This is my eighteenth birthday present from me to you," she wrote on Twitter.

The video begins with Lorde sitting in a dim room – the whole video is dim, really – wearing a pompadour that would make Elvis proud. Also, if you've seen and loved her psychedelic dance moves you'll be happy to know the video is filled with them. Yes, there's the bear claws, multiple hair flips and what Vulture calls "The Heavenly Reach."

As for the rest of the film's soundtrack, which Lorde is in charge of curating, she confirmed a few days ago that track five is Major Lazer's All My Love, featuring "angel pipes sista" Ariana Grande. Other songs include The Chemical Brothers' This Is Not a Game (which features uncredited vocals by Lorde) and Chvrches' Dead Air. The complete album is due out on 17 November.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 opens in Malaysian cinemas on 20 November.
