Girls director Lena Dunham has partnered with HBO for a half-hour comedy pilot called Max. Set in 1960s, the series will focus on an ambitious magazine writer who gets involved in the second wave of feminism in 1963.

Variety reports that Lisa Joyce (The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire) has been tapped to star as Maxine Woodruff in the series with the script written by Murray Miller. Knowing Lena's style, we bet the series is going to be a hit with equal parts of funny and seriousness.
