Johnny Depp takes a break from his streak of sombre characters to star in Mortdecai, which is adapted from Kyril Bonfiglioli's The Mortdecai Trilogy novels. We may only be judging by the film's first teaser trailer, but Johnny is already putting on quite a show.

The award-winning actor joins forces with his Secret Window director, David Koepp, in this action-comedy crime flick, which centres on art dealer Charlie Mortdecai. He heads to the "terribly vulgar" Los Angeles, intending to recover a stolen painting of great importance – as in 'Nazi gold' type importance. On the way, Mortdecai manages to anger a bunch of Russians, the British M15, his wife (Gwyneth Paltrow), and an international terrorist.

Mortdecai also stars Ewan McGregor, Paul Bettany and Olivia Munn. We'll never, ever get over Johnny brushing his ridiculous moustache, but we're looking forward to when the film opens in 2015.
