Brace yourselves, fellow Instagrammers. Your favourite photo-sharing app is now a legit photo editing app.

Previously, we would always rely on trusty external photo editing app(s) to edit that perfect picture or selfie (we're guilty of this) to share on Instagram and other social media. Time consuming, yes. But anything for the right adjustment and filters.

It seems that the tech gods of Instagram have noticed our photo editing woes and now the app has a new update that comes with a whole new set of editing tools, that will supposedly banish the need for an external photo editing app. The new features include options to adjust brightness, contrast, warmth, saturation, shadows, highlights, vignette, sharpness and filter strength. The only thing really missing is a crop function.

In all honesty, we're still pretty attached to our VSCO filters, but this update is really useful for a quick update or those too lazy to hop between apps. If your gadget doesn't auto-update, the Instagram 6.0 is now available on Apple's App Store and Android's Google Play
