[Updated 17 November 2014] Future Music Festival Asia have just announced on their Facebook page that the FMFA 2015 will be held in Singapore. There aren't any hints of the lineup or details of an exact venue yet, so keep your eyes on the page. We're just glad they've decided to keep it so close to home.

It's nearing November and there have been no updates on Future Music Festival Asia ever since it was abruptly cancelled on its third day due to controversial incidents back in March. Unfortunately Future Music Festival Asia won’t be continuing their annual festival in Malaysia next year.

Cue crying emojis.

The organisers of the franchise festival from Australia have announced that they will be organizing the music festival in a different Asian city for next year's event after three years of maintaining their stance here. But according to The Music Network, Livescape Asia has finished their three-year contract with Future Music Asia and a new venue will be announced next month.

“Future Music Asia has always been a brand that we wanted to move around Asia,” Festival director Brett Robinson said, “We’ve had a three-year deal in KL and we are now building towards an announcement next month in a different Asian city; but we’ve got great Government support from that city and we’ve got a lot of strong support from that city.” He continued, "We want to make sure that Future Music Asia truly becomes Future Music Asia and not Future Music Malaysia […] We want to try and be able to be dynamic and jump around a little bit.”

Meanwhile the head PR of Livescape Asia, Jason Kong released a statement, "Yes, I can confirm that Future Music Festival Asia will not be taking place in Malaysia next year. It was a difficult decision to make because obviously, as a Malaysian company, we were extremely proud to have been able to organise Southeast Asia’s largest music festival in our own home."

Since it's been confirmed that there will no longer be FMFA on our local soil, so where's the next venue? "We’ve got some really exciting plans for FMFA 2015. In fact, it’s going to be our biggest festival yet. But we’re keeping the venue a secret for now. One thing’s for sure, the new venue itself is amazing," said Jason in the statement.

Though we're a bit bummed (a lot actually), but we trust Livescape Asia to hustle and maintain the legacy of South East Asia's biggest festival.
