Frozen sequel may not happen

Parents, rejoice! For now

Frozen directors and co-creators Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck were so exhausted after making Frozen, they didn't even think making a short (which is attached to Cinderella in cinemas) was possible, let alone a sequel.

"It was the scary thing of, 'How do you follow Frozen up?'" Jennifer told BuzzFeed News. "We were scared. I don't think we even began to understand what people liked about the movie...Two years ago, we were writing that and wondering if kids would even like this character. Every day we're still surprised. I don't know if I'll ever understand it."

Much of Frozen's fame stems from the popular song Let It Go, which was performed by Broadway veteran Idina Menzel (who was also shot to mainstream fame after the Disney film was released). The hype has since not died down and speculation was rife that a sequel was in the works. While a Broadway musical is really in development, Frozen 2 currently only exists on the rumour shelf.

"It's been in the press that we are doing it, and we would ask each other, 'Are we?'" Chris said, squashing the speculation. "They'd have a date and they'd have a cast and it was like, OK…"

Jennifer and Chris aren't completely ruling out ever making a sequel, though.

"It all comes down to the story," Jennifer added. "Like with the short, it was so daunting until we found the story."
