Step aside, haters. FKA Twigs has earned herself a nomination in the British Breakthrough Act category at the Brit Awards. Twigs – also known as Tahliah Debrett Barnett – released a new music video for Pendulum in time for the nominee launch yesterday. We'll have you know that she also directed the unique video of her tangled up in her own hair.

The 26-year-old's music and wardrobe are known for being enigmatic. True to form, she flashed some leg at the launch in a jacquard-like robe while giving 'statement jewellery' a whole new meaning. She is also up for the British Female Solo Artist award. Boyfriend Robert Pattinson must be very proud.

Tahliah, who will be performing at next week's Laneway Festival in Singapore, shares the nomination with Sam Smith, Scottish electronic outfit Chvrches, Budapest singer George Ezra and rock duo Royal Blood.

Sam recently told Chaka Khan that he isn't impressed by how some pop stars have their head in the clouds and aren't very nice. Should he win this award – or even if he doesn't – staying grounded and humble would make him a brilliant example to budding artists out there (you keep it real, Sam).
