E. L. James's husband is the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel's new screenwriter
We're guessing Niall Leonard won't have a problem working with the author and producer
There's still no word on a new director to replace Sam Taylor-Johnson, but the Fifty Shades of Grey film sequel at least has a new screenwriter after its original, Kelly Marcel, left the franchise. And it's none other than E. L. James's husband, Niall Leonard, who is taking over the script for the second film, which is based on his wife's novel Fifty Shades Darker.
What a couple project, right? We can only hope that when sparks fly on set, it's because producer E. L. and her hubby are on the same page about how to bring Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey to life.
"Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits, and we are lucky to have him join Team Fifty," Fifty Shades producer Michael De Luca told The Hollywood Reporter.
E. L. was rumoured to be eyeing the screenwriting job herself, but looks like it all worked out in the end.
