Let No Man Steal Your Thyme is a traditional British and Irish song, which Carey Mulligan does a rendition of in the new teaser trailer for upcoming drama, Far from the Madding Crowd.

Carey is no stranger to singing on film – she's done plenty in Shame and Inside Llewyn Davis, but this particular performance has a welcome folksy vibe that the 29-year-old's voice is very suited to. (Maybe she could duet with husband Marcus Mumford?)

Adapted from Thomas Hardy's novel of the same name, Far from the Madding Crowd follows a headstrong young woman, Bathsheba Everdene (Carey) and her relationships with three very different men: poor shepherd Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), wealthy farmer William Boldwood (Michael Sheen) and cavalry officer Sergeant Troy (Tom Sturridge).

We'll classify the male characters in simple terms: one's the friend-zoned chap, the second is the dashing guy who charms his way into Bathsheba's heart, and the third's the one who becomes obsessed with her after being foolishly led into thinking that the she is smitten by him.

Watch the teaser and deduce who is who. Far from the Madding Crowd will be released in the UK on 1 May 2015, but there's no word about it showing in Malaysian cinemas yet (sobs).
