Brace yourselves; Sony Pictures is looking at Barbie as a possible film franchise. The film production giant and Mattel have come together to kick-start production plans for the first Barbie film by the end of the year.

Screenwriter Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City) is penning the script, while Laurie MacDonald and Walter F. Parkes (both produced the Men In Black series) will co-produce.

Will she be a princess or doctor, you ask? A movie star or a president? Sources say that the film will be a buddy comedy, in which Barbie is an overworked bureaucrat looking for an assistant. Whatever it is, we pray she has normal body proportions. Modelesque if you will – she is Barbie after all – but none of those unbelievably tiny feet or 18-inch waist, please.
