Zayn Malik quits One Direction
We thought Zayn Malik was just taking a break from the One Direction tour (so far he's missed the Philippine leg and last night's concert in Indonesia) to patch things up with his fiancée Perrie Edwards, but last night One Direction dropped this bomb on us:
"After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year," the band posted on its Facebook page.
Zayn also released a statement, saying he's leaving the group because he just wants to be a normal 22-year-old. "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart," he said. But what about our hearts, Zayn?
And we aren't the only ones who are heartbroken: poor Harry Styles was seen openly crying on stage in Jakarta last night. But maybe that's because he was always meant to be the Robbie Williams of the group and leave first?
