Why is Melissa McCarthy starting a plus-size clothing line?
The bubbly Mike & Molly actress knows what it's like to not have anything to wear
Plus-sized fashionistas everywhere will be glad to know that Melissa McCarthy has joined forces with Daniella Pearl to create a line of plus-size clothing for women. But there's a less than glamorous reason behind her fashion venture.
"Two Oscars ago, I couldn't find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers – very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people – and they all said no," she said in an interview.
As a Hollywood A-lister, you'd think that Melissa has everything a star can want, but she admits that fruitful shopping sprees are rare. More often than not, the actress is disappointed. She previously expressed in 2011 that "trying to find stuff that's still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible."
Melissa and Danielle previously worked together on a dress for the Identity Thief actress to wear to the Emmy Awards in 2011 (pictured). There, she won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Mike & Molly.
