Why did ChloŽ Grace Moretz turn down Taylor Swift's squad invitation?
The actress explains her feminist stance
Chloë Grace Moretz is not your average teenager. For example, she doesn't agree with the idea of having or being a part of squads. In fact, she once declined Taylor Swift's invitation to join her squad.
"They appropriate exclusivity. They're cliques!" Chloë explained to Complex magazine. "It's about equality – and it's not just about women being powerful. It's about races being powerful; genders being powerful." And when asked about what she thought of Taylor, "She's a very talented person," was all Chloë would say.
Let's hope that Chloë won't feel the need to make amends to Taylor later on. Funnily enough, the actress isn't the first to turn down the coveted golden ticket to tour stage appearances and badass posse photos. Last year, Ian McKellen made it clear that he wasn't part of Taylor's squad, even though his close friend Sir Patrick Stewart seemed to be a little more keen.
"When I was living in Peter Jackson's apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave! That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift's team, does it?" Ian told Gay Star News in August, adding that "She bought it, she had every right to – I was just lodging there for free! She did ask me to appear with Patrick Stewart at her show in L.A., but I had something else to do that night."
