Why Kerry Washington isn't going back to her pre-baby body
The 'Scandal' actress is happy to have a "miracle site" body
More than a year after delivering her first child, having a post-baby body is going well for Kerry Washington, so she doesn't care about going back to her pre-baby body.
"A few weeks ago, my manager asked: 'Do you feel like you're back? I feel like you're back,'" she told Self in an interview. "She meant it as a total compliment, but we had this great conversation where I was like, 'You know what? I try really hard not to use that language, because it's not about going backward in life.'"
Not that the Scandal star doesn't look amazing, anyway, but that is something we can all definitely keep in mind whenever we groan about ageing, mothers or not.
"I've been really focused on not being 'back' to anything, but being the best version of myself right now. My body is the site of a miracle now. I don't want to be pre-miracle," she added.
Kerry also revealed that Pilates is her thing as it lets her listen to her body and then exercise according to what she needs.
"There are a lot of forms of exercise where you have to leave yourself out of the room while you force yourself to do this thing," she said. "With Pilates, I get to bring my true self. I cry, I laugh. I get to go: Where is my body today? What do I need today? How can I take care of myself and push myself past my comfort zone? How can I be both loving and challenging?"
Putting it simply, leave your post-baby body behind and find that perfect way of exercising that lets your current body be the best it can be. Got it.
