The latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians finally addresses Kim Kardashian's traumatic experience of being held at gunpoint in Paris last October. She had taken a step back from the spotlight after the incident, so this marks the first time we get to hear exactly what happened from the reality TV star herself.

The show starts with an unassuming retrospect of the Kardashians' day before the robbery took place – there's Kanye helping Kim and Kourtney get dressed for Paris Fashion Week, the family sitting front row as Kendall walks the Givenchy show and then, the mood shifts as the terrifying incident is brought up.

Kim recalls thinking it was a drunk Kourtney stumbling up the stairs to the apartment, only to realise it was masked men breaking in.

As Kim was held at gunpoint, dressed only in a robe, she thought she was going to be raped and "fully mentally prepped" herself for it. Her voice breaking, she also shared a heartbreaking thought: "I just prayed that Kourtney will have a normal life after she sees my dead body on the bed."

Kim also talks of how the robbers must have been following her in Paris and saw the "window of opportunity" to act when she was alone in her apartment (her then-bodyguard Pascal Duvier had been on security detail with Kourtney and Kendall Jenner at a club that night).

Whether or not you've been a Kardashian fan, you'll definitely feel for Kim as she relives it all. Despite speculation that the robbery was staged for publicity, this episode reveals how very real and traumatic it was for the family. Kim tweeted her thoughts after the episode aired.

The 36-year-old had taken to Instagram earlier to post the "last family photo taken in Paris", writing: "Tonight's episode is going to be very tough for me. However, I thought it was important to share this story through my eyes and not in an interview where my own words could be twisted. I have always shared so much and I'm not going to hold back when this was probably one of the most life changing experiences for me." She also thanked friends, family and the French police for their support.
