Top stories: We gushed over fashion, while George gushed about Amal
Plus, why we should all speak out against violence
The Cannes Film Festival just kicked off this week and the red carpet arrivals that we've seen thus far have not disappointed, whether it was Lupita Nyong’o twirling in a gorgeous green Gucci dress to Naomi Watts looking like a princess in Elie Saab to Charlize Theron wowing us (as always!) in Dior.
Before Cannes rolled out its red carpet, however, we were all hyped up with all the Cruise 2016 shows that happened this and last week. There was the Chanel show, which our very own editor-in-chief, Andrea, attended in Seoul, Korea. In Palm Springs there was Louis Vuitton (which, by the way, has a new face), while Dior held its show at the iconic Palais Bulles de Pierre Cardin in the south of France. We spotted so many inspirational looks we can channel for our next #whatELLEwears, but in the meantime, check out what our colleagues wore this week.
We know we gush about fashion a lot (how could we not with all the beautiful things, like these fringe dresses, that have been coming out lately?), but while we were gushing about the red carpet arrivals and the Cruise runways, George Clooney also gushed about his stunning wife Amal during the Disneyland premiere of Tomorrowland. George is such a sweetie.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as loving to their women as George. This week, a number of passengers boarding Malindo Air flight OD1003 were witnesses to a man hitting a woman repeatedly on her head, and only one woman, Beatrice Leong, dared to speak up. Next time, we should really all be like Beatrice.
On a lighter note, Kate also shared an inspiring story about the things she learned from working for Jamie Oliver, in celebration of Food Revolution Day. Elsewhere, Lynda Chean of Pink Tattoos also gave some really good career advice, while Olivia Palermo offered useful beauty tips. (Because, come on, she is the queen of Upper East polish.) Also, have you seen Prada's new café in Milan called Bar Luce, which Wes Anderson designed? It makes us want to book to a trip Milan ASAP!
Anyway, it's the weekend! Smile, put on your favourite dress (this is ours, at least for this week) or onesie (Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande wore one to duet) and sing along to American Idol judges doing Rihanna and Bruno Mars covers. Happy weekend, all!
