Tom Hiddleston sings a Christmas song with a dog

Tom Hiddleston sings a Christmas carol for you, you and you
In between working on the soundtrack for upcoming biopic I Saw the Light, Tom Hiddleston and singer Rodney Crowell gave into the festive mood with a rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Tom will play late country singer-songwriter Hank Williams in the biopic, so some casual singing ought to be good practice, especially when you have a dog in your arms to distract you. Merry Christmas to you too, Tom and Rodney. And Mono the "wonder dog."
J.K. Rowling wants to end orphanages
It is J.K. Rowling's dream that orphanages are outwiped. In an op-ed for The Guardian, the Harry Potter author wrote: "The idea of any child being taken from their family and locked away, all too often in atrocious conditions, is particularly poignant at this time of year."
J.K. was so troubled by the phenomenon of poverty-stricken children (some of whom are not actually orphans) being forced to live in institutions and then subjected to psychological trauma that she founded a charity, Lumos, in 2005 to address the issue.
Lumos is dedicated to helping children in orphanages return to their family or enter a new one. Its achievements include reducing the number of children in institutions in Bulgaria by 54%, and increasing foster care by 44%. Moldova, the poorest country in Europe has seen a 70% reduction in the number of children in institutions thanks to Lumos.
Hopeful that at this rate there will be even fewer institutions in the near future, J.K. wrote "It is my dream that, within my lifetime, the very concept of taking a child from its family and locking it away will seem to belong to a cruel, fictional world."
Ashlee Simpson is pregnant
Diana Ross is going to have another grandchild. Her youngest son Evan Ross and his wife, Ashlee Simpson, are expecting their first child together since tying the knot at Diana's Connecticut home in August, E! News confirms.
Evan, who recently appeared in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 as rebel Messalla (yes, that's him) said earlier that he would love having kids – "as many as possible" – as he revealed that he and 30-year-old singer Ashlee were planning to start a family.
Six-year-old Bronx, Ashlee's son to Pete Wentz, and Jessica Simpson's kids Ace and Maxwell can look forward to a new sibling/cousin soon, then.
Vivienne Westwood's present to David Cameron: asbestos
Not very festive, you'd have to admit, but the British fashion designer wanted to make a point about the detrimental effects of fracking, a method of oil extraction whose long-term effects are not yet known.
Vivienne and her son Joseph made the trip to David Cameron's Downing Street office yesterday to hand over a parcel of asbestos addressed to the UK Prime Minister. According to the London Evening Standard, police prevented them from delivering the harmful material, but let pass their "independent medical reports" that highlighted the fallout of fracking.
Asbestos, once used in insulation and other building materials, isn't directly linked to fracking, however it is a product with serious health implications that only became known decades after its introduction. And Vivienne was trying to make the point that fracking could be the same.
"They link very clearly the chemicals used in fracking industry to some really horrible, serious illnesses," Joseph said. "Birth defects in children, horrible cancers, skin diseases, rashes, nosebleeds, stunted growth, all kinds of things... We have the opportunity now, and I hope David Cameron takes it, to put an end to what could be something quite disastrous for the UK."
