The Grammy aftermath a.k.a. Sam Smith's emotions
Kanye almost interrupts Beck, Taylor Swift reconciles with Kanye and Diplo, Pharrell throws shade at Taylor and Blue Ivy Carter loves Rihanna's dress
Kanye storms onstage jokingly... or not?
Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMA Awards when she beat Beyoncé to the Best Female Video award. We know how that turned out. Six years on, the rapper almost pulled the same act on Grammys Best Album winner Beck, running onstage as the singer was about to start his speech, and then pretending to think better of it. Much to Jay Z, Beyoncé and Pharrell's relief, Kanye's gesture was in jest. Albeit with some context.
"I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us," Kanye said afterwards during an interview with Khloe Kardashian for E!. "We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyoncé."
Beck was totally okay with Kanye's almost-interruption
Despite the dis, a gracious Beck was thrilled that Kanye wanted to come onstage and agreed that Beyoncé should have won.
"He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody," the father of two told Us Weekly. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?" On beating Beyoncé, he added: "I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyonce!"
Scottish singer and Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson, however, was not as diplomatic as Beck.
"It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry," she addressed Kanye in a Facebook post. "You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt. In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own."
Taylor Swift makes up with Kanye and Diplo
The Grammys this year were many things, but we didn't expect them to be ground zero for a bit of reconciliation. Taylor Swift has moved past that old VMA episode and was seen having a very friendly conversation with Kanye and Jay Z before posing for photos together. It's all good.
The Blank Space singer also seems to have patched things up with DJ Diplo, who in November last year made fun of her slender figure by starting a crowd-funding page to "get Taylor Swift a booty." By the looks of this photo, the two are buddies now.
Pharrell Williams throws shade at Taylor Swift's dancing
No words were spoken, but the look on Pharrell's face was enough to tell you that he wasn't impressed by Taylor's partying at the Grammys. You should've shown her how it's done, Pharrell.
Sam Smith wins big at the Grammys, has "monumental" hangover
Posting a photo of the Los Angeles Times front page with him holding his four Grammy trophies, Sam Smith confessed that "I am monumentally hungover and keep spontaneously crying." At just 22, of course a big win like that takes a lot out of you, so Sam also went on "another level of hungover" that has nothing to do with him being smothered by Rihanna's poofy dress on Sunday night.
Blue Ivy Carter loves Rihanna's dress
In the most adorable moment of the Grammys, Jay Z and Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy proved that she may very well be one to watch, having shown an adept eye for fashion at just three years old.
"Blue told me she likes my fluffy dress lol! She was also fully aware that she was in Dior, and not afraid to let ya know ok," Rihanna wrote on Instagram. Blue may be only a fraction of the mass that was Rihanna and her couture gown, but there's no doubt the girl's got presence.
