The 'Blank Space' singer is the only female contender for Record of the Year

Taylor Swift wasn't a big contender at the 57th Grammy Awards earlier this year, so it was only natural that she caught up with everyone else by scooping seven nominations for next year's awards.

Her feat beats 2015 giants Beyoncé and Sam Smith (six nods each), but is still a far cry from Kendrick Lamar's 11 nominations for 2016. On that note, Beyoncé and Sam Smith are completely missing from this year's list. Another interesting statistic: Taylor is the only female contender for the coveted Record of the Year award.

The 58th Grammy Awards will take place on 15 February at Staples Center in Los Angeles. It's just too bad Adele's new album didn't make the cut-off time for the awards, but fingers crossed she'll perform at the show anyway. Those nominated in 2017 should watch out though, we suspect Adele will knock everyone's socks off by sweeping many, many awards.

Here are the nominees for the awards. Click here for the full list. You should also know that the 2016 Grammy Nominees album can now be pre-ordered on
