Simon Cowell had something to say about American Idol getting the axe after its 15th season, but for once it wasn't anything mean. Instead he got a little emotional.

"We had a blast! Me, Paula, Randy, Ryan – and not forgetting Brian. Thanks to the fans we were able to make some great shows and found some amazing artists," he said in a statement obtained by Billboard. "Fox took a risk on a brand new show and I want to thank them for giving us the opportunity. They were really great times."

He also went on Twitter to continue his sentiments. "Looking back at my time on American Idol we had a great time. We found great artists. Had fun. And to America. Thank you. It was a blast," Simon tweeted.
