Malaysian actress Sarah Lian was awarded Best Supporting Actress at the Los Angeles Film Awards (Lafa) – a monthly film competition held by IMDb – for her role as Anna in a film called Jasmine.

"I think Anna (her character) is misunderstood," Sarah told The Star. "She's an actress trying to prove herself. She gets involved in the wrong things and that sort of becomes the catalyst for some conflicts."

The film was directed by Dax Phelan and revolves around a successful Hong Kong businessman, played by Jason Tobin, who loses everything after his wife, played by Grace Huang, is murdered. He soon becomes obsessed with her death and starts seeing a mysterious stranger at her grave. He believes that the man is the one responsible for his wife's death.

Jasmine also received five other awards: Film of the Month, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Actor (for Jason) and Best Director (for Dax). No word yet as to whether Jasmine will screen in Malaysian cinemas, but there's the trailer to keep you occupied.
