Rihanna's nearly-naked Swarovski dress
The CFDA's Fashion Icon of the Year award left little to the imagination
Anyone else who looked to turn heads at the CFDA Fashion Awards would have felt seriously defeated when Rihanna showed up in nothing but 230,000 Swarovski crystals standing between her and absolute nakedness. Really, who else would live up to being the Fashion Icon of the Year like this?
The daring diva wore the bespoke dress and Swarovski headscarf by Adam Selman, showing off her incredible bod with only a thong hiding her privates and a Pologeorgis fur stole draped low around her arms and waist.
The idea for the dress came to Adam while he and Rihanna's stylist Mel Ottenberg were dressing the singer for the MTV Movie Awards. "We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous," Adam said. "The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that."
Rihanna has recently been banned from Instagram, after posting a photo of her topless self on the cover of Lui magazine. A few weeks later, Scout Willis also had her account taken down after violating Instagram's guidelines regarding nudity. She then started a #freethenipple protest and walked around topless in New York City. Trust Rihanna to then bring the campaign to the red carpet.
