Reese Witherspoon gets another 'Sweet Home Alabama' proposal
The actress gets a surprise dose of nostalgia from Tiffany & Co.
In 2002 rom-com Sweet Home Alabama, Reese Witherspoon plays fashion designer Melanie Smooter, who after a whirlwind 8-month romance gets engaged to wealthy bachelor Andrew Hennings (Patrick Dempsey). What we all remember most about the movie is how and where Andrew proposed. Yes, you remember: at the Tiffany & Co. New York City flagship store, where Melanie was free to choose any – repeat, any – ring she wanted.
More than 10 years on, Tiffany & Co. surprised the actress with a recreation of the iconic scene when she attended the brand's Blue Book Collection celebration on Wednesday. If you were jealous then, you'll be jealous all over again.
"Um. This just happened. @Tiffanyandco just surprised me with a #SweetHomeAlabama moment in NYC??!!! Where magical moments happen. #Pinchme#NotYourAverageWednesday," a very excited Reese wrote in Instagram.
Melanie doesn't end up with Andrew in Sweet Home Alabama, but that's okay. It's really the magic in this minute-and-a-half that counts.
The rest of the night glittered with stars including Olivia Wilde and Amber Heard, who like Reese, wore Tiffany & Co. pieces to match their outfits. Reese stunned in a Stella McCartney navy dress, Olivia wowed with her Marchesa frock and Amber was a bombshell in a number by The Row.
