Rebel Wilson has found herself into a bit of controversy after Australian magazine Woman's Day revealed the actress had been lying about her age, real name and background.

Based on business records filed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, Rebel was actually born on March 2, 1980, not February 3, 1986, making her 35, not 29 as she previously confirmed.

As for her background, she once told Ellen DeGeneres that she grew up in "the ghetto" but an old classmate who spoke to Woman's Day told the magazine that she actually had a perfectly normal upper-middle-class upbringing in Sydney.

Meanwhile, the Australia Women's Weekly revealed that her name is actually Rebel Melanie Elizabeth, so she didn't really lie about that one. It's just that she used her middle names Melanie and Elizabeth growing up to avoid bullies.

We guess everyone should just follow the "never-ask-a-lady" her age rule. It's a good thing Rebel still has her humour in tact despite all the week's revelations.
