Michelle Dockery's fiancé John Dineen dies
He lost his life to cancer on Sunday
[Updated 17 December 2015] Michelle Dockery paid a heartwarming tribute to her late fiancé John Dineen yesterday at his funeral at St. James Catholic Church in Ballinora, Ireland.
"Whether in his work or his personal life John was extremely loyal," Michelle said. "It was clear that when John was in your corner he was there. I was honoured to know John. To love him and be loved by him. He was my friend, my King, my hero, my everything. We celebrate him, we honour him and we will miss him."
In a touching show of love, Michelle was also persuaded by John's father to sing Oscar Hammerstein's The Folks Who Live on the Hill at the altar.
English actress Michelle Dockery has lost her fiancé, John Dineen, to a rare form of cancer. John passed away on Sunday at the Marymount hospice in Country Cork, Ireland.
The two were introduced by Michelle's co-star Allen Leech. They dated since 2013 but largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight.The couple got engaged earlier this year and Michelle was spotted showing off her engagement ring. Reports say that Michelle was by his bedside at the hospice until his final days.
The funeral will take place today at St. James Catholic Church in John's home village of Waterfall.
"The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private," a spokeswoman for Michelle said.
