MTV Movie Awards 2015: The golden popcorn keepers
'The Fault in Our Stars' wins movie of the year and Zac Efron finally gets an award for his chest
This year's MTV Movie Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, were hosted by Amy Schumer.
The big winner of the night was The Fault in Our Stars, which beat the likes of American Sniper, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Gone Girl and Whiplash to take home Movie of the Year. The cast and John Green, author of the book the movie is based on, gathered on stage after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced the win, and John gave an emotional acceptance speech.
"I had nothing to do with the making of this movie, but I was the first at the microphone," he gushed. "These people are such a gift to my life." Although Ansel Elgort was not present, he still managed to celebrate via a Twitter selfie.
TFIOS also nabbed two more golden popcorn awards, with Shailene Woodley winning Best Female Performance and sharing the Best Kiss award with Ansel. Don't forget, Shailene also won a MTV Trailblazer Award which is reserved especially for "someone who blazes a trail to be followed by others", according to the actress herself.
The Maze Runner wasn't left behind as it received awards for Best Hero and Best Fight for Dylan O'Brien's performances. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 also took home a trophy for Jennifer Lawrence's Best Musical Moment and another one for Elizabeth Banks' Best On-Screen Transformation for her makeover into Effie Trinket.
This year Zac Efron finally received the Best Shirtless Performance award (long overdue), for his (chest's) part in Neighbours. He also accepted an award with co-star Dave Franco for Best On-Screen Duo in the same movie.
Last but not least, Robert Downey Jr. Was presented the MTV Generation Award by his fellow Avengers, who got down on their knees to worship him on stage, and Kevin Hart got the MTV Comedic Genius Award. You can catch the complete show here.
