Lily James to star in 'Mamma Mia' sequel
The 'Baby Driver' actress will play the younger version of Meryl Streep's character Donna
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has added Lily James to its cast, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Lily will play the young Donna; Meryl Streep will reprise her role as Donna in the upcoming film, directed by Ol Parker.
The sequel, a follow up of the 2008 film based on the ABBA-centric Broadway musical of the same name, will jump back and forth in time. Lily and Meryl will be joined by Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski and Colin Firth, who reprise their roles from the first film.
Lily, who is currently on tour to promote Baby Driver, has demonstrated her singing chops before – she sang in Cinderella as well as in BBC One's period drama War & Peace. Mamma Mia would be her first proper musical film – it's a long time coming!
