After a spate of celebs refusing to commit to the F-word (hi Katy, Kelly, Taylor), it’s refreshing to hear someone famous say yes to the feminist question. In an interview with OOTD about her collaboration with Nelly.com, Leighton Meester said that feminist writer and activist Betty Friedan is her role model.

“She fought for gender equality and wrote the great book The Feminine Mystique which sparked the beginning of a second-wave feminism,” said Leighton.

In response to whether she considered herself a feminist, she said, “Sure. I believe in equal rights for men and women.”

Leighton Meester, everyone, restoring our faith in humanity.
