Kanye wants to work with Ikea, Ikea says no
You can't have everything, Kanye
In this week's episode of celebs getting whatever they want, Kanye West doesn't. The rapper recently told BBC Radio 1 that he'd like to work with Swedish furniture company Ikea.
"I have to work with Ikea – make furniture for interior design, for architecture," Kanye said, noting that students would be keen on having "a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm."
"Yo Ikea, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes," he added.
Can you imagine if Kanye designs furniture? Will drawers be drawers or will they look like beds, but also a little like a table as stable as Kim Kardashian's butt?
Unfortunately, a spokesperson from Ikea told CNBC that the company isn't looking to collaborate with Kanye at the moment.
"At IKEA we are constantly curious about different people, companies, artists and events around the world," the Ikea spokesperson said. "To have these connections and inspiring meetings is an important way for us to find new ways to create a better everyday life for the many people. Although we are really flattered by Kanye West's high interest in Ikea and the speculation around a joint venture, we have no plans to collaborate at this point in time."
Our existing furniture can rest easy – as far as redecorating is concerned, there won't be an invasion of Yeezy x Ikea anytime soon unless Ikea Australia wasn't kidding about this.
But we think our senior graphic designer Kenneth has a better idea.
