Kanye West joins Instagram

Naturally, the meaning behind his first post is unclear

Kanye West has finally opened an Instagram account. Not surprisingly, his first post was vague and captionless, leaving it open to interpretation.

The photo, at first glance, appears futuristic and innocuous, but it's actually a still from the 1990 film Total Recall that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you, ahem, recall, Arnold plays an unhappy construction worker Douglas Quaid who is troubled by dreams about Mars. He goes to a memory company called Rekall to receive a memory implant about his trip to Mars as a secret agent. When something goes wrong during the procedure, it is revealed that Douglas's life is a memory implant as well, and he is not who he thinks he is.

Is Kanye trying to tell us something? Is this his favourite movie of all time? Is he saying he is ahead of all of us? Is he hinting at life being just a memory implant (like in Total Recall)? Or is he going to Mars anytime soon? Will all of his posts confuse us like this?

Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: nobody understands Kanye but Kanye.
