James Corden and Broadway veterans harmonise to 'Seasons of Love'
Two familiar chords into the intro, and everyone's like "awwwww"
With James Corden hosting the Tony Awards this Sunday, it was only natural that Carpool Karaoke got a Broadway treatment.
Current musical god and rhyme virtuoso Lin-Manuel Miranda started out with the lightning-fast Guns and Ships from his new and critically-acclaimed Hamilton, before Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jane Krakowski joined the ride.
Even if you're not yet familiar with Hamilton, another song on the gang's playlist will tug at your heartstrings: Seasons of Love from all-time favourite Rent. It turns out that even Broadway veterans, like can't help but sigh when that songs comes on the radio; but the real magic comes when they sing the chorus in harmony. Skip to 3:52 for "the most Broadway response." Aww, indeed.
They quintet also sang Can't Take My Eyes off You from Jersey Boys and One Day More from Les Misérables (in which Jane plays the friend-zoned Eponine). What a treat!
