Break-ups are hard and unless you're Taylor Swift, odds are you don't get anything positive out of it. In the world of celebrities and their splits, one couple that doesn't seem to be moving on is Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Yes, Jelena may have broken up for good in 2014 (it seems like centuries ago), but they just. Can't. Stop. Throwing shade at each other.

Jelena won't go away, so we may as well make the best of it. Here are five Don'ts we learned from the ex-couple about how to deal with a bad breakup.

1. DON'T start a break-up song war
Selena's new boyfriend The Weeknd joined the fun with his new song Some Way, which is said to about him stealing Selena from Justin. A day later, Selena released her new song with Kygo, It Ain't Me that sounds like a post-breakup letter to the Biebs. (Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning? / It ain't me / It ain't me / It ain't me).

In normal-people world, this would be the equivalent of posting Facebook statuses about your 'feelings' and how you're 'so much better without him/her'. Speaking of social media...

2. DON'T stay friends on social media
Even though it sucks to completely cut contact, sometimes space is definitely needed to heal. Plus, who wants to see how better-off your ex is doing without you?

3. And if you do stay friends on social media, DON'T comment
Selena decided to comment on how Justin was threatening to disable his Instagram account. Yeah, because your ex wants to know what you think, right?

4. DON'T publish ambiguous social media posts
To the horror of Beliebers, Justin really did delete his Instagram account. In response and perhaps a dose of regret, Selena took to Snapchat, writing "What I said was selfish and pointless". If you say you've moved on from an ex, let it stay that way. We hear nothing but the ka-ching of the publicity cash register.

5. DON'T be petty when your ex does move on
After news broke that Selena started dating The Weeknd, paparazzi caught Justin dissing The Weeknd's music, and later mockingly saying that Starboy was his favourite song. In the non-celeb world, expect your friends to tell you to build a bridge and get over it.
