How Emma Watson deals with breakups
The actress explains what happened before her split from Matthew Janney
Emma Watson revealed that she went on a silent retreat (in a facility in the scenic Rocky Mountains, Canada, to be more specific) to contemplate her failing relationship with Matthew Janney before the two broke up last December.
"I felt really uncomfortable, even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat because I wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself," she said in an interview.
Emma and Matthew, a rugby player, dated for almost a year. The Noah actress was previously in a three-year relationship with Will Adamowicz, who she met while studying at Oxford University.
The 25-year-old asserted that it was not her busy schedule – she is one of Hollywood's brightest stars and is a UN ambassador – that caused her breakups.
"The boyfriend or partners I've had have generally made me feel really cherished. They've built me up," she added. "I certainly haven't found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I've struggled in my love life. I just think it's very patronising towards men. It undermines them."
