Highlights from the American Music Awards 2015
The biggest moments from the night, in pictures
When you finally move on from that spectacular performance – we had trouble doing so earlier – let's take a look at who won big at the star-studded awards. The award to win was Artist of the Year, which One Direction snatched for the second time in a row from some of the biggest names of the year. The four-man British boy band also went home with the Favourite Duo or Group (Pop/Rock) award. Click here for the full list of winners.
Jennifer Lopez, the show's host, slayed the audience with a medley of the year's biggest hits as her introductory performance. Naturally, the awards show was a mini all-star concert, with Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, Demi Lovato (who performed her own songs on top of her duet with Alanis), Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Pentatonix (they did Star Wars!), Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd filling the giant performance roster.
In non-performance-related news, Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth were so moved by their song Marvin Gaye that it warranted making out onstage. And we mean, making out, far more than they did in their music video (seriously, guys, are they dating?). Meanwhile, Celine Dion performed a heartfelt rendition of Hymne à L'Amour as tribute to the victims of the Paris terrorist attack (you might still be able to watch her sing here). To end the night, Justin Bieber drenched himself, perhaps to mask the tears, in case he cried again like he did at the VMAs.
