Henry Golding to star in 'Crazy Rich Asians'
The Malaysian TV presenter lands his first feature film role
Crazy Rich Asians just got even more exciting! Malaysian TV host Henry Golding has won his first ever movie role; he will play Nick Young, the Singaporean boyfriend of the film's main character Rachel Chu, who will be played by Fresh Off The Boat's Constance Wu.
Henry is the second Malaysian to join the cast. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Michelle Yeoh will play Eleanor Young, Nick's mother.
Step Up director Jon M. Chu is directing the film, which is based on Kevin Kwan's best-selling novel of the same name. Rachel, an American-born Chinese economics professor, travels with Nick to Singapore. It's no ordinary holiday, as Rachel realises that her handsome boyfriend's family is extremely rich, he is one of the most eligible bachelors around, and Rachel quickly becomes the target of all the women who are jealous of her. It doesn't help that Eleanor also doesn't approve of her.
The search for an all-Asian cast continues – other characters, which have yet to have actors attached to them, include Nick's beautiful cousin Astrid Teo and Rachel's old friend Goh Peik Lin.
