Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin are engaged to be married! If you watched Monday's episode of Gotham, you'd understand how significant this news is.

The couple, whose relationship was revealed in September 2015, had welcomed their first child, daughter Frances Laiz, together in March 2016. They have been co-stars on Gotham since 2014. The crime drama series, which is set during Batman/Bruce Wayne's childhood and teenage years, also features Detective James Gordon (played by Ben) as one of the main characters. Morena, who is also known for her role in Deadpool, plays Dr. Leslie "Lee" Thompkins, a medical examiner at the Gotham City Police Department and James's love interest.

Now, spoiler alert.

A series of events in the second season led to a breakup between James and Lee, and Lee eventually gets engaged to another man. A love triangle is formed, but the situation is worsened because of extreme jealousy (aggravated by a strange virus), and Monday's episode basically ended with a nail-biting cliff hanger, involving bloodshed.

Back to real life, Ben and Morena's engagement must be cause for celebration for Gotham fans everywhere! Morena, who shares a 3-year-old son with ex-husband Austin Chick, told People in April that it's nice to work with her "significant other" [Ben] especially during the pregnancy. Ben also said that he was very excited to be a father: "I'm very happy about all of it. Poop, diapers and everything. It'll be fun."

Sweetest. Couple. Ever.
