It's official: Gigi Hadid didn't make the cut for Victoria's Secret
But it looks like she's taking the rejection in her stride
When American model Gigi Hadid Instagrammed a behind the scenes pic of a shoot with Victoria's Secret Pink not long ago, many of us did a double take and wondered why she hadn't been on the catwalk at the lingerie label's annual show in London two weeks earlier.
Now an interview with her mother, Yolanda Foster (who stars in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), reveals Gigi officially didn't make the cut. More interesting though, is how Yolanda talked her through the rejection.
"Gigi worked so hard to get the Victoria's Secret fashion show, and she didn't get it," said Yolanda, before adding, "That's just life. She was sad. She was boxing at Gotham Gym every day and in great shape, and it seemed like a perfect fit. But you know what? It ended up not to be."
Instead of fussing over her 19-year-old daughter Yolanda simply said to her, "Hey, Gigi, that’s life, baby. We’re not always going to get what we want, and this is not a rejection of you, Gigi, as a human being. This is just redirection for you into something that’s going to be much bigger… If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen at another time. It wasn’t meant to happen today."
Turns out there was a lot of truth in that wisdom. Just two weeks after the giant lingerie show, Gigi was shooting for Victoria's Secret Pink. With 194,000 Twitter followers, 1.4 million Insta fans and yet another Guess campaign out this month, we'd say Gigi is doing alright. And anyway, a little rejection never hurt anybody.
