SPOILERS AHEAD.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones is just three episodes in and yet, SO. MUCH. HAS. HAPPENED. We should be used to characters surprise-dying on the show, but time doesn't heal on Game of Thrones.

In episode three The Queen's Justice, the elusive Melisandre, played by Carice van Houten, has an interesting conversation with Varys, in which she says: "I will return, dear Spider. One last time. I have to die in this strange country. Just like you." Very ominous, especially if you consider how Varys often sides with the winning team (Daenerys has threatened to burn him alive if he betrays her, NBD).

Of course, in a recent interview with ELLE US, Carice weighed in on Varys' survival.

"I think he's not gonna make it. But that's my personal thought. Some things, terrible things, have to happen in these last seasons! It'll probably be one of those where he'll try run from it, but he'll get it in the end," she said.

We guess even Varys' little birds can't save him from this little nugget. On her own character's demise however, Carice feels that Melisandre will embrace death when her time comes.

"I have a feeling that she's tired. She's old, man," she said. "She knows what this world is about. That's what makes her powerful, but also more vulnerable in the end. But I think she's afraid of dying before seeing for herself that everything ends all right." And this means that Melisandre could even sacrifice herself for the greater good.

Death predictions aside, Melisandre's meeting with Varys hints at interesting plot twists. She mentions that she's headed to Volantis before returning to Westeros. ELLE US pointed out that Volantis has a huge Red Temple, home is to many Lord of Light disciples. The theory is that she'll gather these disciples to come fight for Daenerys and Jon Snow! YAS.

A final fun fact: Carice also notes that despite how much the rest of the world was outraged, her favourite scene from the series was back in season five, when she convinced Stannis Baratheon to burn his daughter Shireen alive.

"The burning of Shireen was fucking awful. That poor child! And [Kerry Ingram, the young actress who played Shireen] was such a lovely girl with a lot of humour. We had a lot of fun backstage. But it was also an iconic scene," Carice said.

Also, just remember that Melisandre did bring Jon Snow back to life, so all is forgiven.
