Emma Watson is now a UN Goodwill Ambassador
The 'Noah' actress will promote girl's education under UN Women
Heads up! New Brown University graduate Emma Watson has just been announced as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, the first to be appointed during under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka's leadership.
The Harry Potter actress, who completed her degree in English literature from the Ivy League university is showing great versatility, not only as a child actress who shot to superstardom, but also as – more recently – a certified yoga instructor. With another notch in her belt as ambassador for girl's education in third world countries, Emma is steadily making her way towards becoming a charity and rights activist as well.
UN's women's empowerment campaign HeForShe will be one of Emma's first duties.
"Women's rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can't imagine an opportunity more exciting," she said. "I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role."
In other Emma Watson news, she hung out with Jennifer Lawrence at the Dior Haute Couture show in Paris yesterday, and this happened. Oh, Jennifer...
