Elfira Loy receives young female icon award
The actress hopes that the national recognition she's received will inspire her peers to achieve success
Malaysian actress Elfira Loy received the Puteri UMNO Ikon Wanita Muda 2016 (Young Female Icon) award from the UMNO Women's Youth Wing assembly held at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday. She wore an elegant pale pink baju kebaya by designer Rizman Ruzaini to the event.
Elfira is one of the five women who were awarded for their contributions to the nation's youth. They accepted their awards from Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The other women recognised for their achievements were athlete Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh (sports category) who won Malaysia three gold medals at the SEA Games in Singapore last year, lecturer B. Norerama D. Pagukuman (research and innovation category), Sofia Ahmad (entrepreneurship category) and Siti Bainun Abd Razali (special award).
"I am very honoured to receive this recognition because maybe, at 22 years old and after 10 years of being in the creative industry, this award can serve as an inspiration to my peers for them to be able to see that they can achieve the same success," Elfira told Bernama [quote has been translated from Malay].
"I believe celebrities can be instruments that can send a message to everyone and attract young people to do something that will be of use to the society," she added.
