Last week, Game of Thrones fans displayed their undying loyalty after watching ice melt for 18 minutes and the powers-that-be are now rewarding all of us with a newcomer: Ed Sheeran!

During a panel at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, the show's creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed that Ed will be guest-starring in the latest season because like most of us, Maisie Williams who plays Arya on the show, is a huge fan of the artist.

"For years we were trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie and this year we finally did it," Benioff said.

While we can't wait to see what role Ed will play (he might be dressed up as a White Walker for all we know!), the showrunners also let us in on a few updates – season 8 (the show's final season) will officially only have six episodes, the creative duo won't return for any Game of Thrones spinoff series and they also hinted at Sansa's possible death.

"We argued over who got to kill Sansa," Benioff joked. Uh-oh.

Set your calendars – Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16.
