Chris Martin And Gwyneth Paltrow Announce Divorce
The couple say they have decided to ‘consciously uncouple’ on Gwyneth’s GOOP website
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have called time on their marriage. The news broke on the Hollywood A-lister’s website Goop.com, where she posted a statement entitled ‘Unconscious Coupling’. The website has since crashed after being overwhelmed by a record number of users. It is currently displaying a ‘500 Internal Server Error’.
The statement reads: “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
Alongside the statement is a picture of the couple smiling in happier times and a 2,000-word essay on the concept of marriage and divorce, written by Dr. Habib Sadeghi, the founder of an LA health center Be Hive of Healing, and Dr. Sherry Sami.
The Oscar-winning actress and British musician have been married for ten years. They have two children, Apple, nine and Moses, seven. Over the last year the couple's notoriously private marriage has been plagued by rumours of a break-up. Vanity Fair magazine were working on a highly anticipated story on Gwyneth which some claimed would have exposed the vulnerabilities of the couple’s relationship. The story never ran.
This news comes at a time when Coldplay are about to release their first album in three years, Ghost Stories.
