Is this the role the actor was mer-made for?

In the latest Hollywood gender role reversals, we have Channing Tatum playing a mermaid in the remake (yeah, another Disney remake) of 1984 romantic comedy Splash.

The original starred Tom Hanks as the male lead Allen Bauer, while Daryl Hannah played the mermaid Madison who saves Allen as a child; 20 years later, she comes to look for him, they fall in love and he has to protect her from government agents who would turn her into a science experiment. In the upcoming remake, Channing's 22 Jump Street co-star Jillian Bell will play his love interest – the female version of Allen.

Channing is living the mermaid dream for all of us. And we wouldn't worry about whether he'd be able to swim gracefully with a tail – moving underwater is going to be a breeze for a dancer like him. The closest encounter he's had with a mermaid on film is with Scarlett Johansson in Hail, Caesar!, so maybe ScarJo can drop him a few tips too?

And then there's this.
