Chanel Iman makes her film debut in 'Dope'
From the runway to Hollywood
You can now add last year's ELLE cover girl Chanel Iman to the long list of models-turned-movie stars. The 24 year old, who's walked the Victoria's Secret runway among many others, has finally popped her Hollywood cherry by starring in indie film Dope.
Directed by Rick Famuyiwa and produced by Pharrell Williams, the comedy film tells the story of three nerdy teens who have to juggle SATs, college applications and their band, all while living in a dangerous Inglewood neighborhood in California. "When I read the script, I just fell in love with it," Chanel told Style.com, adding that acting was something she had always wanted to do.
Starring alongside Zoë Kravitz, Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker and her ex A$AP Rocky, Chanel plays Lily, who she describes as a complex character and, looking at the trailer, she is quite the tease as well. The movie won't be out in the US until 19 June, but in the meantime you can watch Chanel at work here:
